Privacy and data protection
Privacy Notice
Effective 3 October 2026
Afrihood Development Company Limited (RC 1814937) is responsible for the personal data described in this notice. This notice covers afrihood.com and the Afrihood mobile application.
What we collect
Depending on how you use Afrihood, we may collect:
- identity, contact, account, membership and authentication information;
- property enquiries, applications, contracts, payment and transaction records;
- project, construction, inspection, defect, assurance and resident evidence;
- photos, files, capture time and device location when an authorised field workflow requires them;
- support correspondence, notification preferences and push-notification device tokens; and
- security, access, audit, device and service-performance records.
Why we use it
We use personal data to provide and secure the service; verify identity and authority; process enquiries, applications and property transactions; administer contracts and payments; operate and assure projects; deliver requested communications; prevent misuse; satisfy legal, regulatory, audit and record-keeping duties; and improve reliability. We rely on the lawful basis appropriate to each activity, including performance of a contract, compliance with law, legitimate interests and consent where required.
Sharing and international processing
We share data only where needed with authorised Afrihood personnel, project participants acting within their authority, professional advisers, regulators, and vetted service providers that host data or provide identity, communications, document, payment, security and operational services. Mobile push delivery uses Expo and the relevant Apple or Google notification service. Some providers may process data outside Nigeria; where that happens, Afrihood requires an appropriate legal basis and safeguards. We do not sell personal data.
Security and retention
Afrihood protects information through role-based access, additional identity checks for sensitive actions, encryption and audit records. No system is completely risk-free. We keep data only as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected or to meet contractual, property, company, tax, anti-fraud, dispute and regulatory duties. A deletion request cannot remove records that Afrihood must keep by law. When the applicable retention period ends, access is removed and eligible data is deleted, anonymised or restricted.
Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, restrict, object to, port or delete personal data, and may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. You can manage communications in the application and request account deletion from Menu → Account → Account deletion. You can also request deletion without the app. We may need to verify your identity before acting. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Children
Afrihood is not directed to children and does not knowingly invite a child to create an account. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate authority.
